What's the difference between French roast, Vienna roast and American roast? How about the difference between Arabica and Robusta beans? What effect does water temperature have on the brewing of coffee?

Answers to these questions, and many more, will be presented at the Carson Valley Inn's special Boyd's Coffee Seminar on Saturday, Nov. 13.

The morninglong seminar will also cover espressos: the differences between latte, mocha and cappuccino - how they're made and how to order them. You'll also learn about the different types of grinding procedures, how "flavored" coffees are made, the differences between coffee blends and coffee varietals, and how decaffeinated beans come about.

Boyd's Coffee will present the seminar and company personnel will be on hand to answer question about coffee roasting, grinding and preparation. Participants will be given plenty of hot coffee to drink, plus a continental breakfast, a souvenir travel mug and a take-home Boyd's gourmet sampler package.

The cost is $20 per person, including tax and gratuity.
