Young adults entering the business world are being encouraged to join a new group in Carson City to help them develop community service.
An informational and organizational meeting for Rotaract, a service club for men and women 18-30 years old, will be at noon today in the Rotary Rotunda snack bar area of Western Nevada Community College.
"Rotaract members develop their leadership potential while joining an international organization of service clubs," said Bill Reeves, member of the sponsoring Carson City Rotary Club.
Reeves said Rotaract has 6,000 clubs and 130,000 members around the world and Carson-area residents have a chance to be charter members.
Laura Garfin, another local Rotarian, said young adults will learn skills valuable in business that will benefit the community. Rotaract is a subsidiary organization of Rotary International, she said.
"We have members from every walk of life," Garfin said. "Our service programs, among other things, promote education with scholarships and assistance to schools."
