Conference slated for Hispanic parents

A conference for Hispanic parents to learn more about how the educational system works will be held Saturday at Carson High School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The conference, designed to stress the importance of parents becoming involved in their children's education, will host workshops dealing with issues such as truancy, students rights and the responsibility of parents.

The conference is sponsored by Nevada Hispanic Services of Carson City, Carson City School District, Carson City Juvenile Department, Nevada State Department of Education and Western Nevada Community College.
