WENDOVER, Nev. - A construction worker was killed along Interstate 80 in Nevada over the weekend when the paving machine he was operating ran over him.
Roderick Kenneth Peterson, 59, Elko, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the accident about 10 a.m. Sunday, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Susan Rivas said.
Peterson was working on the eastbound lanes of I-80 near Wendover where crews are building a highway off-ramp.
The accident remains under investigation. Authorities said they aren't sure if there was some mechanical problem with the equipment or whether operator error was solely to blame.
Peterson was working for the Frehner Construction Co.
