DAYTON - After several months of anticipation, the Central Lyon County Fire District Board is moving to its new quarters.

The board will hold its first meeting in the spacious new Sutro Station at 234 Corral Drive on Wednesday evening.

District Chief Bill Driscoll said he is happy with the new arrangement.

"I am pleased and excited to finally have everything under one roof," Driscoll said. "We are fully moved in, though not necessarily settled in. There are still a few things that need arranging."

Driscoll said the building is complete, with only some finish grading and a driveway requiring additional work. The temporary trailer, used as district office space while the new station was under construction, was being readied for removal Monday.

"I told my staff they had one last chance to move back into it, but all I got were dirty looks," Driscoll said. "They are all quite pleased with the new facility."

Included among agenda items for the meeting will be discussion and possible approval of recreating the position of emergency medical services captain.

Driscoll said the district wants to put one person in charge of EMS training and operations, similar to how the firefighting branch is organized.

The district auditor will also present the 1998-99 fiscal year financial report for approval.

The Central Lyon County Fire District meets at the Sutro Station, 234 Corral Drive, Dayton, beginning at 7 p.m. Call 246-6209.
