Fly fishing festival set for April 16

April 16 is the date of the sixth annual Fly Fishing Festival.


The festival will be held at the Carson Valley Inn (CVI) in Minden. It will feature a fly fishing and fly tying exhibits, displays, vendor booths, speakers, demonstrations, competitions, etc.


The hours will be from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.


The list of exhibitors in past years has included Peter Bauer of the Angler's Edge in Gardnerville, Nevada Division of Wildlife, Pyramid Lake Fish Hatchery, Jim and Elaine McGee of the Sierra Fly Shoppe in Carson City, Tom and Martha Roberts of the Virginia Lakes Pack Outfit at Virginia Lakes, Calif., Sorensen's Resort of Hope Valley, Calif., Trout Creek Flies of Zephyr Cove and Tahoe Fly Fishing Outfitters of South Lake Tahoe.


The cost to attend is $5 per person with anyone under the age of 16 admitted free.


For $25, an entire family can attend the festival.


During the day, there will also be outdoor flycasting demonstrations slated in the CVI parking lot, weather permitting.


Among the festival'sfeatures this year will be a casting contest. That contest will be open to both pros and amateurs.
