According to a recent press release from Boat Owners Association of The United States (BOAT/US), a total of $45,000 was awarded to 28 winners of the BOAT/US 2000 Grassroots Grants Awards.

With those awards, BOAT/US has passed the $500,000 mark in its awards to community groups around the country for their boating safety programs.

Cinema advertising that promotes safe boating in Sodus Point, NY, free T-shirts handed out to kids wearing life vests in Texas and New York and signs warning people about the special care needed to navigate dams in Neenah, Wisc. were among the 28 winners submitted by non-profit community groups.

Included in the 28 winners was the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 11-02 of Reno.
