MINDEN - Terrah Kizer was near perfect as the freshman twirled a one-hit shutout in Douglas High School's 9-0 Northern 4A softball triumph at home against Fallon on Tuesday afternoon.

Kizer allowed only two base runners over seven innings - on Terrin Johnston's single to lead off the game and on a fifth-inning walk - as the Tigers improved their conference record to 11-9 and assured themselves of a berth in the zone tournament. The freshman struck out three.

"She was really hitting her spots today," Douglas coach Ken Carr said. "She was throwing with confidence; she kept the ball down; she did a real nice job."

Doubles by Lindsey Rollins, Allie Walling and Hillary Moreira ignited a five-run third inning that put Douglas on top. Michelle Roza's three-run homer over the left field fence made it 8-0 in the fourth.

"This was a big win for us," Douglas coach Ken Carr said. "We've got one of the spots nailed down, now we have to work on trying to improve our position."

The Tigers visit McQueen next Tuesday for a game between teams that are battling for sixth-place in the conference.
