The Nov. 5, 1999, article regarding the Carson City mint dies contains a small but noticeable error of fact. The mintage of 133,000 for the 1875-CC 20 cent piece is correct, however, the 1876-CC 20 cent piece is the one with only 14 surviving examples known.

The 1876-CC 20 cent piece had a mintage of 10,000 and all were struck from a doubled

die.

The 1870-CC $20 piece is also an extreme rarity with quite possibly fewer than 14 surviving from the original mintage of only 3,789.
