Natural resource meeting in Reno

The State of Nevada Advisory Board on Natural Resources will hold a meeting on Friday, beginning at 8:15 a.m.


That day-long meeting will be held in Conference Room B at the Nevada Division of Wildlife's headquarters building at 1100 Valley Road.


The seven-member committee, which is appointed by the Governor, consists of Chairperson Barbara Curti of Reno, Vice Chairman Dennis Selleck of Las Vegas, Randall Capurro of Las Vegas, Russ Fields of Reno, Mike Pavlakis of Carson City, John Vernarecci of Douglas County and Don Quilici of Carson City.


The board's Friday agenda will include:


A status report by Pete Moros, the director of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.


A report on the 1999 fire season in Nevada.


An update on the status of the natural resource plan for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.


A report on the status of the Bureau of Land Management wilderness study program and discussion of possible processes leading to the delineation of such areas in Nevada by the U.S. Congress.


An explanation of the payments-in-lieu taxes made to local governments by the federal government to compensate for the losses in local property revenues due to the public ownership of the land.
