Obituary: Dorothy V. Atchison

A funeral for Dorothy V. Atchison, 94, a Genoa resident since 1942, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Atchison died June 27, 2000 at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. She was born Feb. 25, 1906 in Florence, Colo., to Hiriam and Effie Delong Gaddy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, on Jan. 1, 1981 and her daughter Virginia Ammon on June 13, 1983.

Prior to living in Genoa she resided in Wyoming.

Mrs. Atchison was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as secretary for more than 20 years.

Mrs. Atchison was of the Methodist faith.

Among her survivors are her sons Tom Bryan of Grass Valley, Calif., Don Atchison of Fallon and Dennis Atchison of Wellington; daughters Sybil Ridinger of Grass Valley, Phyllis Pedrojetti of Newport, Ore., and Pat Willard of Genoa, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Genoa Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.

The family requests donations be made to the East Fork Paramedics, P.O. Box 218, Minden, 89423, and the Cancer Research Institute, 681 5th Ave., New York City, NY.
