Obituary: Fred R. Miller

Fred R. Miller, 87, a Gardnerville resident for the past four months, died Jan. 3, 2000, at Barton Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 19, 1912, in Hanford, Calif., to Charles Otto and Edith Edna Hamilton Miller.

Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Santa Cruz, Calif.

Mr. Miller was a truck driver for Exxon Corp. for 55 years. He was a professional musician who played the trombone and was a member of the Watsonville, Calif., band. He was an avid sports fan and he loved traveling and fishing.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn L. Miller, in 1990, in Santa Cruz.

Among his survivors are his sons, Ron, of Los Altos, Calif., and Norm, of Minden; daughter, Barbara Childers, of Texas; brother, Lee Miller, of Santa Cruz; and four grandchildren.

No service will be held.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home, Gardnerville, is in charge of arrangements.
