James Malcolm Overstreet Jr., 77, a Carson City resident for the past 13 years, died March 18, 2000, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born May 24, 1922, in Brandenton, Fla., to James M. and Leila Olive Posey Overstreet.

He graduated from Palmetto Florida High School in 1941.

He married Jo Dean Tyson in April 1945.

Mr. Overstreet was a steamship agent handling ocean freight and ship charters out of Miami, Fla. He was a 53-year member of the Palmetto Masonic Lodge and a a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the South Miami American Legion Post. He was an avid reader and loved to travel.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in March 1942, serving as Staff Sgt. until his discharge in 1945.

Among his survivors are his wife, Jo Dean, of Carson City; brother, Rev. Albert Overstreet, of Lakeland, Fla.; Godchildren, Garrett and Cari, of Colorado and several nieces and nephews.

No local service will be held.

Inurnment will be at a later date in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
