Obituary: Robert O. Casey

A memorial service for Robert O. Casey, 74, a Dayton resident, was held Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Casey died Oct. 6, 1999, at his residence. He was born March 8, 1925, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Benjamin P. and Albina Oien Casey. When he was a a baby, his family moved to Montana. He was raised on a ranch near Miles City. He worked the rodeo with a brother in the early '50s until relocating to Nevada in 1958.

Mr. Casey was a construction worker for 12 years, including helping build the First National Bank in Reno. At that time, it was the tallest building in Reno. He was the first man hired to build the Nevada State Legislature Building in Carson City and continued as labor foreman during its construction. He then went into the firewood business under the name of K-C Firewood which he continued until his retirement due to ill health in 1995.

Among his survivors are his wife, Vivian J., of Carson City; three stepsons and two stepdaughters in the Carson City and Sacramento area; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Burial was at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery, is in charge of arrangements.
