Obituary: Troy Shelby

Troy H. Shelby, 88, a Sun City West, Ariz., resident for the past nine years, died Jan. 19, 2000, in Sun City West. He was born Sept. 1, 1911, in Anadarko, Okla.

Before moving to Sun City West, he lived in Carson City.

He attended the University of Oklahoma.

Shelby retired in 1964 as a colonel in the U.S. Army after 30 years of service. His last post was Carson City where he served as military adviser to the National Guard from 1961-64.

He later worked in real estate sales in Carson City for J.D. Smith and later for Bob Miller. He was a member of Kiwanis International and served as president of the Nevada Board of Realtors. He was active in the Proscenium Players Theatre.

Among his survivors are his wife, Doris; grandsons, Stuart T. Sheppard of Norfolk, Va., and Scott Sheppard, of Duncansville, Pa., and great-grandchildren, Brandon, Lindsay and Callie Sheppard.

Graveside services with full military honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery.

Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center of Sun City West is in charge of arrangements.
