Obituary: William "Bill" Eaton

A graveside service for William "Bill" Eaton, 79, a Virginia City resident for the past 20 years, will be at the New Auburn District Cemetery in Auburn, Calif.

Mr. Eaton died April 1, 2000, at his residence. He was born April 6, 1920, in Calexico, Calif., to Arthur Lincoln and Emma Louise Avery Eaton.

Before moving to Virginia City, he lived in Washington state.

Mr. Eaton belonged to the Tuesday's Men's Luncheon Group and the First Presbyterian Church in Virginia City. He was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy during world War II.

Among his survivors are his wife, Ethel of Virginia City; son, Dennis of Auburn; stepsons, Russell Brandon of Manteca, Calif., Michael Brandon of Hilo, Hawaii and Alman Brandon of Virginia City; sisters, Lorraine Spencer and Alora Fick, both of Southern California; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be at Walton's Carson Sierra Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church (Building Fund), P.O. Box 87, Virginia City 89440 or to the Virginia City Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 603, Virginia City 89440.

Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
