Obituary: William Edward Westermeyer

William Edward Westermeyer Sr., 77, a Gardnerville resident for the past 23 years, died Nov. 19, 1999, at South Lake Tahoe. He was born April 5, 1922, in Washington, D.C., to Carl C. and Margaret Westermeyer.

He married Hazel M. Favre, Dec. 23, 1948, in Bethseda, Md. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a cruise to Alaska.

Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Los Gatos, Calif.

Mr. Westermeyer was a cartographer for 25 years with AAA in San Francisco, Calif. and H.M. Gousha, in San Jose, Calif. He was a member of George E. Tutt Lodge 292, Free and Accepted Masons in Los Gatos. He served in the Merchant Marine for three years and the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl.

Among his survivors are his wife, Hazel M., of Gardnerville; son, William E. Jr., of Geneva, Switzerland; daughter, Nancy E. Hahn of Minden; and sister, Marie M. Westermeyer of Gardnerville.

A memorial service will be at a later date.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home, Gardnerville, is in charge of arrangements.
