However familiar the single parent family has become in American culture, the responsibility that the role entails has not become easier. The feelings of frustration and solitude often become part of a single parent's existence rather than just a passing phase, authorities say.

A quarterly support group to discuss these issues and get feedback from other single parents is being set up in Douglas County.

The first support group will meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday. Free child care will be provided on the premises. Call Family Support Council, 782-8692. Preregistration is required.
