A Carson City man remained in serious but stable condition Sunday after getting stabbed in the chest Saturday night in a dispute on Clear Creek Avenue, according to Washoe Medical Center.

Jesus Rios, age unknown, went to the home of John Sanford Burke, 33, at about 9:50 p.m Saturday and an argument about somebody owing money followed, said Chief Deputy Bernie Curtis of the Carson City Sheriff's Department.

"Rios was stabbed in the upper chest during the scuffle," Curtis said.

The weapon has not been located. It was unknown what kind of cutting instrument was used, Curtis said.

Rios was taken by Care Flight to Washoe Medical Center, where he was still in the intensive care unit Sunday afternoon.

Burke was booked into Carson City Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and failing to register as an ex-felon. Bail was set at $75,000.

Burke will be arraigned Tuesday.
