CARSON CITY (AP) - The State Bar of Nevada plans to dedicate a veteran's memorial to recognize Nevada attorneys who lost their lives while serving their country.
The memorial, at the State Bar building in Las Vegas, will be dedicated by World War II veteran Jack Streeter, a Sparks native and longtime Nevada attorney.
Streeter, who served in the 1st Infantry Division, was awarded five Silver Stars, five Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars.
''With the completion of the memorial this month, Presidents Day seemed like an appropriate time to dedicate it and bring some prominent Nevadans together for the occasion,'' Ann Bersi, president of the Board of Governors of the State Bar, said.
The memorial was made possible through a grant from the Reno-based E.L. Cord Foundation.
