Nine Western Nevada businesses were presented with a set of medallions coined in Carson City for their help with Carson City's Countdown to the Millennium.

Committee members thanked the Nevada Appeal, Carson Nugget, Cactus Jack's Casino, the Ormsby House, Carson Station, Pinon Plaza Resort, SlotWorld, ArialNet Inc., and Bally Gaming Systems for their sponsorship of the millennium celebration.

Thanks to the celebration, Carson was named Nevada's only National Millennium Community.

The one-ounce medallions were commissioned for the celebration in silver and bronze.

They were designed by local artists and the silver medallions are struck on coin press No. 1 at the Nevada State Museum and bear the "CC" mint mark.

The coins are still for sale through the Children's Musuem, the Nevada State Museum and the Stewart Indian School Museum or may be ordered from the Carson City Convention & Visitors' Bureau by calling 687-7410.
