Nevada cross country wins opening meet

The University of Nevada women's cross country team opened its season by beating Sacramento State in the Hornet Harrier Classic in Rancho Cordova, Calif.


Nevada had the top four finishers in the 5K event in Kendall Knowles (19 minutes, eight seconds), Emman Garrard (19:10), Erin Seward (19:30) and Monica Mryhow (19:33). Also competing for Nevada is Galena High graduate Julie Hinton.


Nevada's next meet will be Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Fresno State Invitational.
