Carson girls golf places seventh

The Carson High girls golf team continued to show improvement with a seventh-place finish in a Northern Nevada 4A Tournament on Tuesday at Reno's Sierra Sage.


The finish was an improvement on Carson's eighth-place finish in the opening 4A tournament. Eight teams will advance to the Northern Nevada Zone Championships.


Carson finished seventh with a 537. The top eight teams were: Fallon, 467; Galena, 474; Elko, 503; Reno, 503; Reed, 524; Douglas, 525; Carson, 537; McQueen, 538.


Galena fresham Lux Gill was the individual champion of the tournament with a 79. For Carson, Ciarra Christian shot a 101, Lindsay Farnworth had a 102, Ashley Faber fired a 106, Elizabeth Rankl had a 110, Gabrielle Gallegos shot a 118 and Mandy Carvin fired a 124.


"I was very pleased," Carson coach Paul Croghan said. "We've got a very young team age-wise and experience-wise. They're doing a good job. We just look to keep improving."
