Carson City's Jeff Duncan recently qualified for his second national championship.

Duncan was the medalists recently at Arrow Creek to qualify for the United States Golf Association Mid-Amateur Championships. The mid-amateur event is for golfers 25 years old and older. The event will be held Oct. 13 through 18 at the San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, Calif.

Duncan fired an even-par 72 to win the qualifying tournament at Arrow Creek, grabbing one of two qualifying spots for the mid-amateur national. This past summer, Duncan also qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championships.

The mid-amateur format will be the same as the U.S. Amateur format, with golfers participating in two rounds of medal play. The top 64 golfers will advance to match play.

While Duncan didn't qualify for the final 64 at the U.S. Amateur, he said he likes his chances in the mid-amateur.

"I think I have a pretty realistic shot," Duncan said. "I'm going to be a little bit more competitive than in the U.S. Amateur."
