Three northern Nevada Assembly members have announced plans to seek re-election.

They are Debbie Smith of Sparks and Sheila Leslie of Reno -- both Democrats -- and Republican Greg Brower of Reno.

Smith will seek a second term representing District 30. She said she wants to continue working to improve conditions for Nevada families and senior citizens -- particularly in the areas of health care and education.

Leslie will seek a third term representing District 27. She is Washoe County's only representative on the Ways and Means Committee, which works on the state budget. Her candidacy was endorsed by Assembly Speaker Richard Perkins, D-Henderson.

Brower will seek a third term as well representing District 26. The district stretches from Washoe Valley and Incline Village to Verdi and northwest Reno.

He served as Minority Whip in the Assembly during the 2000 session and his re-election campaign was endorsed by both Gov. Kenny Guinn and Senate Majority Leader Bill Raggio, R-Reno.
