Former Deputy Attorney General Brett Kandt has been named executive director of the Nevada Prosecution Advisory Council.

He succeeds Ken Rohrs, who left to become executive director of the Ohio Judicial Conference.

The council was created by the 1997 Legislature to develop training programs for state and local prosecutors and law enforcement and to coordinate and develop policies for conducting criminal and civil prosecutions. Since 1998, the council has trained about 900 state, county and city prosecutors in Nevada.

Kandt was a deputy under Frankie Sue Del Papa before leaving for a term as assistant attorney general of the Federated States of Micronesia. He recently returned to Nevada.
