A memorial service for Winston Sellers, 77, a Carson City resident for the past 15 years, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Sellers died Feb. 26, 2002, at his home. He was born July 6, 1924, in Marksville, La., to Grover S. and Mary L. Furlow Sellers.

He graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with degrees in education and accounting.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Canoga Park for 27 years.

Mr. Sellers worked in the travel business for 40 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Toastmasters for more than 30 years, First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, Honorary Camp, Laubach Tutor, a volunteer at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, a Sunday school teacher, an RSVP volunteer and a mentor to many youth. He loved to travel.

He served in the Army Air Corps for two years and was a World War II veteran.

Among his survivors are his wife Jony of Carson City; daughter Pax Kelly of Wells and Lisbet Sherwood of Carson City; sister Adene Didier of Thibodeaux, La.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
