Justin Barber continued his strong showing for the Carson Tigersharks at the United States Swim Speedo Championship Series sectional meet in Las Vegas.

Barber swam to personal best times in the 200-yard butterfly on Thursday. Barber qualified 14th for the finals in a personal best one minute, 55.39 seconds and then lowered that time to finish 12th in 1:54.57.

On Wednesday, Barber swam to a personal best 9:28.54 to place sixth in the 1,000 free. "He's having a pretty good meet," Tigershark coach Jim Puleo said.

Tara Theilemann "was just a little bit off" in her preliminary swim in the 100 free, Puleo said. But she qualified as a second alternate for the finals and in a swim off, Theilemann qualified for the C finals in 52.68 and went on to take second in the C finals.

Karen Burke swam to a personal best in the 100 free (56.22) as did Andy Sturgess (49.39).

Ryan Theilemann swam to a 2:15.73 in the 200 breaststroke and came back 40 minutes later to swim to a 2:03.26 in the 200 butterfly.

For the Tigersharks today, Tara and Ryan Theilemann and Sturgess will swim in the 200 free and Barber and Ryan Theilemann will swim in the 400 individual medley.
