Eric Libby scored one goal and backup keeper Robbie Liebherr scored what proved to the game-winning goal at the beginning of the second half as Carson beat North Valleys 2-1 on Wednesday in Reno.
It was the first loss of the season for the Panthers, who fell to 7-1-3 overall and 5-1-3 in the Sierra League. The Senators improve to 9-0-3 and 5-0-3 and are keeping pace with first-place South Tahoe for the league championship.
In the 42nd minute, Carlos Hernandez crossed a ball into the box and Libby headed it home. Then a few minutes into the second half, Liebher, who played a role in the first goal, stripped a North Valley defender and scored to make it 2-0.
The Panthers' Bobby Partida took advantage of a defensive mistake with a only a few minutes left in the game and slotted a ball past goalie Sean Carter.
"It was a really good game," coach Jim Nealis said. "I thought we dominated for the most part. Their two forwards really keep them in it."

Chris Honer scored a pair goals off headers and Myles DeLaurantis and Jared Price both scored in the Tigers win over the Colts on Wednesday.
The win keeps the fourth-place Tigers (5-4-1 overall, 4-4 league) ahead of Reno in the battle for the last playoff spot from the Sierra League.
Douglas scored all four of its goals in the first half. Trent Hennessey-York and Nic Beres both had assists for the Tigers, who had 13 shots on goal. Goalie Danny Roth made five saves in the game.
DOUGLAS JV 5, WOOSTER 2
Kyle Currence scored a hat trick and had an assist in the Tigers win over the Colts. Brandon Carlson and Chase Cohee each added goals for the Tigers, who improved to 5-3 in league play.
