This weekend's street closures will be the last of the street construction season ending soon in Carson City, officials said Wednesday.

Crews will close Musser Street between Carson and Anderson streets all day Saturday for repaving.

The streets around City Hall, Plaza and Proctor streets will be closed for repaving that day.

"We've completed a lot of work," said city transportation manager John Flansberg about this year's construction season. "This has been larger than any other maintenance program before."

The city has spent $1.6 million this year on repairing and repaving streets. The season started in August and will end in two to three weeks, Flansberg said.

Work on Fleischmann Street near Carson-Tahoe Hospital is in the final stages. Traffic will be constricted to one-way access while manholes and valves are raised to the new street level.

The city is planning several projects for next year and many streets will be resealed, repaired and reconstructed, Flansberg said.

Among the projects for next year is the reconstruction of Deer Run and Empire Ranch roads.

A large area of streets in northeast Carson City will undergo a slurry and chip-sealing project.
