Obituary: Anthony Navarro

Anthony Navarro, 66, a Silver Springs resident for the past five years, died April 9, 2003, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital.

He was born July 4, 1936 in California to Modesto and Margarita Gonzalez Navarro.

Mr. Navarro was an avid coin and rock collector, loved history and fishing.

Prior to living in Silver Springs he lived in Rosemead, Calif.

Mr. Navarro was a newspaper reporter and a photo journalist. He also worked as an administrative assistant for the city of Pomona, Calif., for the U.S. Postal Service in Alhambra, Calif. and after retirement worked for the Nugget in Silver Springs.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Among his survivors are his mother of Upland, Calif., sisters Carmen Limon of Upland, Linda Navarro of Riverside, Calif., Frances Franklin of Murrieta, Calif.; Rachel Pacheco of Upland and Beatriz Padilla of Upland; friend Michael Sangrita of Silver Springs and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Upland.

Capitol City Cremation and Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
