John E. Wipfli

John E. Wipfli, 92, a Carson City resident for the past 22 years, died Dec. 26, 2003, at his home.

He was born March 17, 1911, in Centerville, Calif., to John and Carolyn Herger Wipfli. Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Fremont, Calif.

He married Lily Bauhofer May 24, 1939, in Centerville.

Mr. Wipfli was a dairy farmer in Fremont. He owned and was a chef at Sierra Pines in Markleeville for 16 years.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Fremont and of the Aelpler Gruppe Swiss Club in Newark, Calif.

Among his survivors are his wife, Lily, of Carson City; sons Tom of Smith and Richard of Carson City; daughter, Colleen Wagner of Smith; daughters-in-law Candyce Wipfli and Brendi Wipfli and son-in-law Dave Wagner; sisters Olga Schnyder of Colusa, Calif., Freida Bauhofer of Fremont and Bertha Vogt of Gilroy, Calif.; brother, Willy of Galt, Calif.; and grandchildren Camron and Tess Wipfli and Rachel and Wyatt Wagner.

A private service will be held.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory. FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
