Work truck stolen while driver in store

A business truck was stolen Tuesday from a Carson City gas station while its driver was in the store.

According to Sgt. Wade Penegor, a 1997 Chevy pickup belonging to Delta Fire Systems of Sparks was taken from the AM/PM Mini Mart on South Carson Street about 11:20 a.m.

The driver told police he saw the vehicle driving out of the parking lot then flagged down an officer, Penegor said.

A short time later, an off-duty Reno police officer reported seeing the truck, with three male passengers, speeding past the Mount Rose Highway entrance on Highway 395 in Washoe County.

Store surveillance was of no use to police in identifying the culprits, Penegor said.

The truck is described as white with a black roof rack holding a ladder and black toolbox. It has "Delta Fire Systems" printed on the rear and side and has Nevada license plates 907NLP.

Anyone with information is asked to call Carson City dispatch at 887-2008.
