New Year's Day closures

Here's a schedule of some of the New Year's Day closings and openings.

-- The Nevada State Library and Archives, the Carson City Library and City Hall are closed today and reopen Thursday.

-- The Carson City Marriage Bureau is open today from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

-- The Nevada Appeal's office is closed today. The newspaper will publish every day. Newsroom (881-1215) and subscriber services (882-2515) employees will work today.

-- Banks and credit unions are closed today. Most reopen Thursday.

-- The Carson City Senior Center and senior centers in Dayton, Douglas County, Silver Springs and Virginia City are closed today.

-- Carson Aquatic Facility will be open with lap swims, open swims and the weight rooms every day this week, except today. Call 887-2290.

-- The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Nevada will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily this week, except today.

-- Offices at Western Nevada Community College will be open normal hours weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the semester break, except today. Spring semester starts Jan. 21.

-- Carson City schools are in winter break. Classes resume Monday.
