Small fire stopped in Markleeville

Firefighting crews kept a wildland fire to a half-acre Saturday in Markleeville.

The Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch center said the fire was reported at 11:45 a.m. in an area of timber, manzanita and brush.

Crews from Alpine County, the Carson District of the Bureau of Land Management, the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and the Nevada Division of Forestry stopped the blaze.

Three engines, one patrol truck, two hand crews, an air attack planes and a helicopter were on hand.

No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
