A life celebration for Carl Hess, 73, former Carson City resident, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Brewery Arts Center.

Mr. Hess died July 4, 2003. He was born April 18, 1930, in Salt Lake City.

He graduated from the University of San Francisco with a degree in accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. Hess was a chief financial officer for Farm and Home Life Insurance in Phoenix, Ariz. He later became a chief financial officer for Nevada State Industrial Insurance System until his retirement in 2000.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Among his survivors are his wife Carol; daughters Laura Fullum of Midland Park, N.J., Alicia Weiss of Scottsdale, Ariz., Verlyn McGilvray of Incline Village and Shannon Kilby of Redding, Calif.; son David Watts of Windsor, Calif.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
