Intake No. 2: Still a favorite. Accessibility is great the and the fishing is fine. Power Bait or worms are working well by the dam. We have heard of good fishing with Thomas Buoyant or gold Kastmaster lures.

North Lake: The road is finally open. Fishing has been good with Trout Teaser or Thomas Buoyant lures. Bait fishermen have done well with Power Bait or inflated nightcrawlers. Fly fishing is picking up with Mosquitoes or Royal Coachman flies.

South Lake: Is finally ICE FREE! The high daytime temps, the nights not freezing and the afternoon breezes cleared the lake on Thursday. The lake is coming up about 2 feet per day. Even with the low water, the fishing remains good. Salmon eggs or nightcrawlers are great. We had a lot of good reports with Thomas Buoyant lures.

Bishop Creek: A 4-pound, 11-ounce Alpers on a Z-Ray lure. They have been hammering the fish with green/tan Stingers. Red salmon eggs have also been good, as well as nightcrawlers. Some pretty good luck with dark-bodied Panther Martin lures.

BLUE LAKES, CALIF. AREA: Road is still closed.

BOULDER RESERVOIR IN NORTHERN WASHOE COUNTY: No report.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR, CALIF: According to Mary Booher at the Bridgeport Marina (760-932-7001), "High water flows have dropped water temps, so the bite has slowed down this week, but most boats are averaging 8-10 fish.

A 5-pound brown, a 4.8 pound rainbow and a 4-pound rainbow, all caught while floating a worm. A 4.45 rainbow on a Panther Martin lure, a 4.0 brown on a nightcrawler, a 3.75 brown on a Pradco Mystic lure and a 3.65 brown on a worm and bobber. Carol Sherwood of Gardnerville caught her limit, up to 3 pounds, on nightcrawlers.

BURNSIDE LAKE, CALIF: Road is still closed by snow.

CAPLES LAKE, CALIF: Most of the ice came off on Tuesday.

CARSON RIVERS, CALIF: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930) checked in and said, "Both the West and the East Carson Rivers are running very high and very muddy. The water is beginning to drop, so we are on the backside of the run-off. It was a beautiful weekend but there wasn't too much action.

Convict Lake: Dave DeSurra of the Convict Lake Resort (800-992-2260): A 6.23 Alpers Trophy Rainbow Trout on a rainbow Thomas Buoyant lure from the south shore, a 5.20 pound Alpers on a Jig/Power Worm from the north shore, a 4.73 on a nightcrawler from the south shore and a 4.25 on Sierra Gold from the south shore.

Convict Creek: Best with Roostertail lures. Special regulations in some areas. Check your regs.

CRATER LAKE, CALIF. (Near Kit Carson Pass): Road is still closed by snow.

CROWLEY LAKE, CALIF: Susie Greilich of Kittredge Sports in Mammoth Lakes (760-934-7566) said the perch bite is on. Browns are hitting in the evenings when trolling 4-5 colors of leadcore line.

EAGLE LAKE, CALIF: Dave Meserve of the Eagle Lake Marina (530-825-3454 said, "Fishing continued good last week. Most fish average in the 1.5-3 pound range with several exceeding 4 pounds. Most anglers report catching fish at around 15 feet deep. Wildcat Point, Eagles Nest, outside the Eagle Lake Marina Jetty and open water areas seem to be providing the best results. Most trollers are using Needlefish, closely followed by worms, trolling flies, Pro Secrets and Rainbow Runners."

FEATHER RIVER, CALIF: Kirk Portocorrero of Outdoor Adventures Sport Fishing in Redding (800-670-4448) reported: Catching King Salmon on the Spring run. Fishing will only get better over the next few weeks. June has prime, bright, chrome fish. Using T-50's and t-55's.

INDIAN CREEK RESERVOIR. CALIF: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station said that there were a lot of fishermen over the weekend, but not that many fish were caught.

This Saturday (Free Fishing Day), the Alpine County Fish and Game Commission will host a Kid's Fishing Derby, beginning at about 9:30 a.m. The reservoir will be planted with lots of rainbow trout (some large ones) and there will be prizes, hotdogs and soda pop for the youngsters.

Summit Lake (above Indian Creek Reservoir): Jeff Green of South Lake Tahoe caught a 4-pound rainbow on rainbow Power Bait on Sunday.

LAKE TAHOE -- North Shore:

Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters (800-877-1462) said: "I'm replacing the water pump on the boat, today (Monday).

We had a pretty good weekend. On Friday, we caught a 10-pounder. On Saturday, we caught five but one was a real nice one. On Sunday, we had 12 fish, up to 8 pounds.

I heard that the winning fish in Jake's Derby on Sunday was a 21 pounder, the biggest in the history of the derby.

Its been steady for average-sized Mackinaw trout, very early in the morning.

Some of the larger Macks are going up to 7-8 pounds. I've been tagging and releasing the smaller ones.

We've been trolling 250-550 feet deep in the area in front of Carnelian Bay and King's Beach.

We are using silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades with live minnows or large Apex lures."

LAKE TAHOE -- North Shore:

Gene St. Denis of Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said, "The Mackinaw fishing has slowed down a bit at Dollar Point and Cal-Neva Point, as the Macks are full of shrimp. Dollar Point is better. Fish as early as possible. The bite has changed due to the warm weather and is over by about 9 a.m.

We've been trolling 200-280 feet deep with large, silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows.

LAKE TAHOE -- South Shore: Gene St. Denis said the bite is fairly good off Ski Run Blvd. and Camp Richardson, either jigging with a white Star Jig, tipped with a minnow, or trolling with flashers and a minnow.

LAKE TAHOE -- East Shore: Gene St. Denis said that Cave Rock is fairly productive with white Star Jigs, tipped with a live minnow, 150-280 feet deep.

Skyland Point is best for trolling with flashers and a minnow.

People also picking up Macks 70-110 feet deep with leadcore line and broken-back lures.

Getting German browns at Logan Shoals, Zephyr Cove and Deadman's Point with silver/black Rebel and Rapala lures.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR NEV: Dennis Dunn of the Wild Horse Resort (775-758-6472) reported: "The reservoir is at 1,900 surface acre feet. The fishing is pretty good, excellent in fact. Lots of rainbows and browns. The perch are hitting good. We had a family from Compton, Calif. on their first trip up here, this weekend. They fished from shore by Hendrick's Bridge and caught rainbows, browns, catfish and over 100 perch with worms or mealworms. On Sunday, there was a 5-pound (24 inch) brown taken on a perch colored Roostertail lure."
