About a dozen anti-war protesters-- one carrying a sign that reads, "Bush = Hitler" -- were heckled by passing motorists as they stood in front of the Nevada State Legislative Building in Carson City on Friday night.

The modest protest was in stark contrast to a pro-troop rally Wednesday at the Capitol attended by about 500 flag-waving supporters. And a small contingent compared to the thousands of protesters over the hill in San Francisco who promised to shut the city down for the second day in a row.

"Move to Iraq," one motorist shouted as he drove past.

Another man, his head completely out the window as he drove past Jack's Bar shouted angrily, "You ought to be ashamed of yourself, you traitor!"

Jake Owens, 22, of Carson City, felt impelled to shout "Anti-American tree huggers" as he drove by the small group of war protesters.

The anti-war group, which dwindled down to four in the last half hour of the twilight protest, stayed for about 60 minutes.

Nearly every Friday night since November, the anti-war protesters of Nevada Voices for Peace have gathered.

The protests were organized by a group of people who know each other through their children's soccer games and First United Methodist Church.
