Obituary: Holland DuBois

A memorial service for Holland D. DuBois, 87, a Carson City resident for the past 11 years, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. DuBois died May 11, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno. He was born Feb. 7, 1916, in Kansas City, Kan., to Russell and Victoria P. Boatwright DuBois.

He graduated from college in Kansas City with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in San Diego, Calif., for more than 25 years.

Mr. DuBois joined the U.S. Navy during World War II as a pilot instructor and retired in 1976 as a lieutenant commander.

He retired from Chevron Oil after 25 years as a research chemist.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ramona, in 1990.

Among his survivors are his second wife, Robyn E. of Carson City; stepson, John D. Mooney of Carson City; daughters Janet Hanifan of Gardnerville and Linda Thomas of California; grandchildren Brian, Mark, Noel, Robert and David Hanifan; and one great-grandchild.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Chapel.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
