Rosters set for Fallon All-Star hoops games

The Carson Country area will be well represented during the third annual Fallon Optimist Basketball Classic.


The event will be held on Saturday at Churchill County High School, with the girls game set to begin at 6 p.m. and the boys game scheduled for 7:15 p.m. The top Northern Nevada seniors from this past season will be featured.


Dayton High's Rob Streeter, who led his team to the NIAA 3A State Championship game where it lost by one point, will coach the East boys team. Paul Croghan, who is retiring after a long and successful career at Carson High, will coach the East girls team.


Three of Streeter's players are on the East roster: Jake Deen, Nick McQueen and Brian Lahmann. Three players from Carson High's team that advanced to the state tournament are also on the roster: Ricky Correlli, Ryan Henry and Ed Jaquette. Also on the East roster is Yerington's Wes Thomas.


On the West roster are three players from Galena High's Northern 4A championship team: Sheldon Hutchins, Mikey Ferguson and Tommy Myers.


Among the local players on the East girls roster are Carson's Talia Joyce and Terri Niederer, Dayton's Elizabeth Schlottmann and Christy Fox and Douglas High's Emily Haas, who helped lead the Tigers into the state tournament. On the West roster is Galena's Joanna Hixon.


The East roster also includes Wooster's Julian Hatcher, who led the state in scoring last year at 29.6 points a game. Spanish Springs' Jerry Hogan will coach the West boys and Manogue coach Carissa Welch will coach the West girls.


Rounding out the rosters are: East girls -- Sidney Orndorf, Jami Harris, Delicia Jernigan, Hawthorne; Brianne McGowan, Wooster; Erin Jackson, Reed; Terrin Johnston, Tristen Adams, Carly Sorensen, Amanda Camacho, Fallon.


East boys -- Sean O'Brien, Wooster; Joe Robinson, Lowry; Walter Lewis, Erik Weed, Fallon.


West girls -- Jessica Bishop, Lowry; Traci Graham, Cristi Crofts, McQueen; Brianne Edmunds, Spanish Springs; Katie Federici, Manogue; Lisa Carey, Hug; Elizabeth Fox, Melissa LeMay, Jessica Stewart, Reno High.


West boys -- Zack Hicks, McQueen; Aaron Allen, North Valleys; Rusty Pratt, Spanish Springs; Mike Ortega, Reno; Wes Nichols, Wendell Ware, Tyler Hatley, Hug; Curtis Johnson, South Tahoe; Kevin Dyess, Incline.


Admission to the doubleheader is $5 for adults, and $2 for high school students (with ID) and senior citizens. Children 12 and younger will be admitted free. The proceeds will go to support various activities sponsored by the Fallon Optimist Club in Churchill County.
