Obituary: Glen L. Mead

A funeral for Glen L. Mead, 70, a Carson City resident for the past 40 years, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

Visitation will be there from 4-8 p.m. today.

Mr. Mead died Sept. 1, 2003, in Carson City. He was born April 10, 1933, in TwentyNine Palms, Calif., to George and Ionia Deardorff Mead.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived at Lake Tahoe and Los Angeles.

Mr. Mead and his brother, Kenneth, and father operated Standard Building and Wrecking Co. in Los Angeles for many years. He worked for the state of Nevada's prison system and for Services to the Blind. He was a tax and financial manager for TCA and Triple Check Tax Service. He was the founder and owner of Capital Financial Associates.

He enjoyed hunting with his sons, gardening with his wife, and had recently developed an interest in cooking. He was the managing partner of Gray's Creek Ranch in Council, Idaho, and extremely proud of his development of the ranch's natural resources.

Among his survivors are his wife, Cathy of Carson City; brother, Kenneth of Riverside, Calif.; sister, Sally Sangree of Huntington Beach, Calif.; children Randall of Reno, Michael of Carson City and Terrie Velasquez of Reno; stepson, Eugene Weight of Stead; stepdaughter, Tammy Sims of Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
