When dancing seamstresses sew defective pajamas in Richard Adler and Jerry Ross' "Pajama Game," the audience may leave in stitches.

The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company continues its 2003 season at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory, where workers are conniving for a 7 1/2-cent raise. Sparks fly when the new superintendent falls for the head of the grievance committee.

"Pajama Game" will play at the Carson City Community Center for six performances, Friday through Oct. 5.

The score by Adler and Ross has songs and dances that have become popular musical theater standards ("Steam Heat," "Hernando's Hideaway"). Production numbers ("Racing With the Clock," "Once a Year Day"), and ballads ("Hey, There," "Small Talk") add to the musical comedy.

Playing Sid the superintendent is Ryan Rothchild, most recently seen as Curly in the company's 2002 production of "Oklahoma!" The grievance committee head Babe is played by Heather Dornoff, who played Ado Annie in the same production.

Jerry Lowe plays the fanatical shift manager, so preoccupied with saving time that he even shaves in bed. He is obsessively jealous of his beautiful girlfriend, Gladys (Lynne Heller). Sixty singers and dancers complete the cast, accompanied by an 11-piece orchestra.
