Post office times for last-second filers

The Carson City Post Office offers no extended hours for tardy income tax filers.

The retail office of the Main Post Office at 1111 S. Roop St. is open from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Hours are the same at the Ormsby Station office, at 2613 Empire Ranch Road, Highway 50 East.

The last chance for an April 15 postmark is to drop the return before 6 p.m. at the drop boxes at the Roop Street office. The last chance for a pickup for those who have correct postage for their return is 6 p.m.

Customer windows at the North Carson Post Office, next to Eagle Fitness, 3246 N. Carson St., Ste. 119, are open until 5:30 p.m.

"We haven't had the need here to have extended hours. It's a deadline that everyone prepares for all year. Anybody who has any special needs will have to go to Reno," said Postmaster Doug Hval.

The retail office and customer windows at the Main Post Office in Reno, 2000 Vassar St., will be open until 8 p.m.
