Dayton softball drops a pair

The Dayton High softball team dropped a pair of games in nonleague action against Sparks on Saturday, losing the opener 4-1 and the nightcap 4-3.

In the opener, Nicole Greer pitched well, allowing four runs, but just two earned, over five innings while struking out nine and walking just one. Lauren Fischer finished up, pitching two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.

Melony Cox had two hits, Jessie Ayres and Fisher each doubled, Kaitlen McKinnon had a hit and scored Dayton's only run and Sara Simmons added a hit.

Fisher was the tough luck loser in the nightcap, pitching a complete game. Ayres had three hits and a run, Greer had two hits and a run, Simmons had two hits, including a double, and Fisher had a hit and two RBI.
