Dayton softball falls to Damonte Ranch

The Dayton High softball couldn't overcome eight errors in a 9-8 loss at Damonte Ranch on Tuesday.

Dayton scored five runs in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead. The Dust Devils still led 7-4 when Damonte Ranch scored five runs in the sixth to take a 9-7 lead.

Kaitlen McKinnon went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs, Sara Simmons had a hit, RBI and run, Jesse Ayres went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run, Nicole Greer had a hit and an RBI, Lauren Fisher had a hit, run and an RBI, Amanda Sbragia went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run and Melony Cox had two hits, including a double, for Dayton.

Fisher pitched the first 4.1 innings and Greer was the tough luck loser as she pitched 1.2 innings. Greer allowed just one hit and struck out two, but Dayton struggles on defense was the difference.
