North Lake: The road to the lake is still closed, but walkers reported good fishing with nightcrawlers and Thomas Buoyant lures.
Sabrina Lake: The lake is clear of ice.
South Lake: The lake is still frozen but Stinger, Trout Trap, Thomas Buoyant or gold Phebe lures are working in the open water at the inlet or by the Rockslide.
Bishop Creek: Tons of DF&G stockers with nightcrawlers or Salmon eggs.
BLUE LAKES, CALIF. AREA: No report.

BOULDER RESERVOIR IN NORTHERN WASHOE COUNTY: No report.
BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR, CALIF: Rick Giser of Ken's Sporting Goods Store (760) 932-7707 said, "The reservoir is currently the hot spot in this area.
The trollers are catching rainbows that average 3-4 pounds on flashers and flies or flashers and worms.
The shore fishing has been good off Rainbow Point with Power Bait or nightcrawlers."

CAPLES LAKE, CALIF:
Doug Busey of Douglas County reported that it still has some ice with open water showing around the edges. It should be completely ice free within 10 days.
Dave Kirby said that John Voss of the Caples Lake Resort told him that the Caples Lake Resort boat ramp should be ready for use by a tentative date of May 15. Call 209-258-8888 for latest conditions. The boat launch fee is $15 per boat. There are not many fish being caught.
CARSON RIVERS, CALIF: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930) said both forks of the Carson River will be planted again, a week from this Friday, and that the "Name of The Game" in that general area is the red hot fishing at Red Lake.
East Carson: High and muddy right now.
Todd Sodaro at the Carson River Resort at 877-694-2229 reported that Clint McCoy of California caught 7 and kept 1 (3 pounds). He was fishing with salmon eggs within a half mile of the resort.
Two 4-pounders were caught on April 30 with salmon eggs.
West Carson: High and muddy right now, but very fishable in the Hope Valley area or in the area below the Crystal Springs Campground.

LAHONTAN RESERVOIR, NEV: Missy Swain at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750) said, "The reservoir is still at around 220,000 acres feet of water.
Beach No. 4 is producing good numbers of Walleye and Wipers.
The biggest Walleye last week was just over 6 pounds.
Beach No. 10 is producing catfish but be careful of the sand and don't get stuck.
We had a guy come in today (Monday) with a stringer of Walleye that he caught on minnows while fishing from shore at Beach No. 3.
Just a reminder to all fishermen that if you catch something nice, bring it in so we can weigh it and take a picture."

Doug Ouellette of the Gillys Sporting Goods Store in Sparks (358-6113) reported that fishing has been off and on, byt better in the early evenings at "THe Net's" with a Popcorn Beetle fly.
Carla Molino of the Pyramid Lake Store (775-476-0555) said, "The fishing has been generally slow and we are waiting for it to pick up, now that the spawn is over. However, George (George Molino of Pyramid Lake Charters) had a good day on Sunday. They caught a lot of fish, toplining and spincasting from the boat."

Lots of action over the weekend with lots of limits of cutthroats (up to 18 inches), and brookies at both ends of the lake (The dam and the far end).
Most of the success was by shore fishermen with inflated worms and a few lure fishermen using lures with worm tails.
ROOSEVELT-LANE LAKES, CALIF: No report.

Redding to Anderson: Fishing for rainbows is good, with 15-25 fish most days. Catching and releasing rainbows up to 6 pounds. Using No. 16 Pheasant Tail, No. 16 Prince Nymphs, Caddis pattern and egg pattern flies.

SILVER LAKE, CALIF: Is now completely ice free.
SHASTA LAKE, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero reported catching nice brown and rainbow trout, 2-4 pounds, up to 23 inches, using Shad pattern lures, in the McCord Arm. Also catching King Salmon around the Dry Creek area.

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore:
Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters (800-877-1462) said: "We've been catching our Mackinaw trout early in the morning. I've been tagging and releasing the smaller ones. Catching mostly average size fish, with nothing super big.
I'm trolling 250-550 feet deep in the area in front of Carnelian Bay and King's Beach.
We are using silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades with live minnows or large Apex lures."
Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said he is trolling with a short leader, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at 180-220 feet deep.
Jigging continues to be productive at Dollar Point and Cal Neva Point with a White Star jig.
Andy Moore of Carson City reported that his fishing party got "skunked" over the weekend.
LAKE TAHOE - South Shore:
Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said that most of the week was windy.
Conrad Martin of Santa Fe. New Mexico caught a 25-pound (37.5 inches) Mackinaw last Friday, while fishing with St. Denis. He was trolling at a depth of 280 feet in front of Camp Richardson.
LAKE TAHOE - East Shore:
Gene St. Denis said, "Cave Rock Shelf has been steady with a short leader, Dodgers and live minnows at 180-280 feet deep. Catching 6-15 Macks per trip, with the average size running up to 6 pounds.
Toplining has slowed way down.
TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck Fields of the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550) reported there was a group of 117 fishermen from California who had their own private tournament over the weekend. Many of them caught limits of rainbows, up to almost two pounds. Most of the fish caught from boats were taken with flashers and nightcrawlers. Most of the fish caught from shore were taken with inflated worms.
TRUCKEE RIVER:
Little Truckee River, Calif: No report.

Truckee River, Nev: Don Hamby of The Gilly Sporting Goods Store in Sparks (358-6113) reported that the river is high, fast and cold, and you need to fish along the edges.
The best areas to fish are at Lockwood, Mustang and Derby Dam. Use stream flies, small spinners or Rapala lures.
Truckee Canal, Nev: No report.
TWIN LAKES, CALIF. AREA:
Lower Twin: No report.
Upper Twin: Mono Village (760-932-7071) reported a 5-pound, 3-ounce rainbow on a worm from shore, a 5-pound rainbow on a nightcrawler, a 4-pound, 12-ounce rainbow on green Power Bait and a 2-pound, 15-ounce rainbow on a gold Phebe lure.
VIRGINIA LAKES, CALIF. AREA: Rick Giser said that the lakes are still iced over, but the ice is thin and you should not venture out onto it. Two fishermen broke through the ice, got out OK but they got an icy bath.
VIRGINIA LAKE IN RENO: No report.
