Fire burns south of Gardnerville

Five smoke jumpers are fighting an 8-acre fire southeast of Gardnerville. Called the Horseshoe fire, the blaze is burning about four miles southeast of the Horseshoe Bend of the Carson River south of the Lahontan Cutthroat Trout Fish Hatchery.

According to the Sierra Front Interagency Cooperative the fire was to be staffed through Saturday night.

The fire caused by Friday's lightning storm was reported at 1:04 p.m. Saturday.
