Terri Martin e-mailed last week inquiring about Eagle Valley Children's Home and Carson City Sheriff's Department Santa Patrol.

The Eagle Valley Children's Home has 15 to 20 clients age 10 to their late 30s. Staff member Donna Clark said they can use donations all year, especially around the holidays.

The Carson City Sheriff's Department Reserves Group runs the Santa Patrol. Santa will come to your home and hand out your presents to children or grandchildren. Give Dan Tecca a call. The Santas could use individually wrapped candies and candy canes to hand out to youngsters.

The Sierra Nevada Ballet and the City of Carson Redevelopment presents 'The Peanutcracker." Most children cannot sit through the two-hour-plus show of the original "The Nutcracker" ballet so they have condensed it to peanut size. The show will feature professional dancers and apprentices from the Sierra Nevada Ballet and dance students from local schools.

If you want a fun but a little more modern "Nutcracker," check out "All Jazz'd Up." It features a new twist on jazz dancing and hipper action. Purchase your tickets and grab a coffee at Comma Coffee.

The Carson City Republican Women holiday luncheon will be a special program to help the women and children at Advocates Against Domestic Violence Shelter. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for the children in the shelter and receive a free raffle ticket.
