Frank W. Tate, 88, a Reno and Carson City resident for the past 14 years, died Dec. 21, 2004, in Carson City.

He was born July 28, 1916, in Tuscola, Ill., to Charles C. and Nellye Lindsey Tate.

After graduating from high school and Eastern Illinois University, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the United States, Africa and Europe.

He completed both his master's and doctorate degrees at the University of Chicago. He held professor and administrator roles in several Western and Midwestern universities, including the University of Oregon, Washington State University and Idaho State University. Prior to his retirement in 1983, he was named Emeritus Professor of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin Center System.

Among his survivors are his sister, Constance McCullough of Lincoln, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

At his request, no service will be held.
