The streak continues for the Carson Senator bowling team. Once again Carson won the High Desert Interscholastic League Northern Nevada title.

Carson defeated Manogue 40-5 on Tuesday at the Reno Hilton for the title. Carson came in with a 7-0 mark after winning the Mountain division and Manogue came in with a 7-0 mark after winning the Valley division.

Carson finished the season 8-0 in winning its fourth straight Northern Nevada title. It was also the fourth straight year that Carson has gone undefeated.

Zach Tersteege was the top bowler for Carson, rolling a 676 series (238-224-214). "He bowled really well," said Pinon Plaza Bowling Center manager Bill Baker, one of the team's coaches.

Other high games came from Brooks Greenlee (235), Brandon Beach (216) and Charlie Haynes (246). Other members of the team were T.J. Abreu, Robyn Conn, Morgan Dickens, Phil Martinovich, Brad Williams, Kim Zink and Lisa Ramos.

Sanction high games for Carson's bowlers include: Dickens, 289; Greenlee, 288; Beach, 268; Abreu, 264; Conn, 254; Haynes, 276; Tersteege, 266; Williams, 256; and Zink, 242.

The team is also coached by Paul Martinovich and Vernon Barnes. Pinon Plaza, which serves as the team's home lanes, donates $1,500 to the program each year.

Greenlee, a freshman, had the top series on the season for Carson, rolling a 762 against Hug. It looks like Carson will be tough to beat in Northern Nevada in the future as there are no seniors on this year's squad.

Bowling is a sanction NIAA sport in Southern Nevada, but not in the north. Baker said he would like to see the NIAA sanction the sport in the north so Northern schools could compete with Southern schools for the state title. "That's our main goal," Baker said. "The kids would love that."

Baker credited Carson's success to the city's junior bowling program. "That's what makes this bowling team," he said.
